World Chef Showcase
The very first World Chef Showcase weekend has drawn to a close. 20 top chefs and food authors flew in from around the world to join more than a dozen Sydney chefs for a series of cooking demonstrations, tastings, talks and more. Food lovers from around the country learned the secrets to Neil Perry's "three shot chicken", saw David Thompson cook Thai street food and laughed at Longrain's Martin Boetz camping it up with the king of fusion cuisine, NZ-born Peter Gordon.
Packed out sessions included an hour with Chinese food expert Fuchsia Dunlop and Sichuanese culinary genius Yu Bo - shaping simple vegetables into amazingly intricate shapes, Japan's Yoshihiro Murata with his "assistant" Tetsuya Wakuda and Quay's Peter Gilmore talking about rare herbs and plants with France's Sebastien Bras, from the seventh best restaurant in the world.
Word is it was so popular we'll have to do it all again in 2010.
